The organization solidified existing projects, initiated new ones, and remained steadfast in its commitment to ensuring <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">equitable access to quality healthcare<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and improving the lives of thousands in the Global South.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">A pivotal event in the fight against neonatal mortality in sub-Saharan Africa was the inaugural <\/span><b><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">NEST Partners Meeting<\/span><\/i><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, held in Burundi last October. This gathering brought together collaborating hospitals to exchange experiences and chart the future. It also served as an opportunity to finalize the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">revision process of the <\/span><\/b><b><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">NEST &#8211; Neonatal Essential Survival Technology<\/span><\/i><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> model, adapting it to address new global challenges and the specific needs of the communities it serves.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Another significant milestone was the Chiesi Foundation&#8217;s participation in the <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">International Maternal Newborn Health Conference<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, the first of its kind, held in South Africa in May 2023. The Foundation&#8217;s role as a partner and supporter of the initiative reaffirmed its dedication to this crucial area of <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">maternal and child health<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In the area of respiratory health, the Foundation focused on consolidating the <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">GASP &#8211; Global Access to Spirometry Project<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, solidifying its position as an <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">effective and sustainable model for diagnosing and managing chronic respiratory diseases<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. New partnerships were established with strategic collaborators, including Johns Hopkins University, which is conducting a study in Bhaktapur, Nepal, to assess the respiratory health status of the population, particularly brick kiln workers. The findings of this research will be instrumental in <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">designing targeted interventions<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> to improve the quality of life in local communities.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Chiesi Foundation forged a partnership with <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Chiesi Spain and SEPAR<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, the Spanish Society of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery, to bolster the GASP project in Peru.
